At a ceremony in Atlanta this week, Chuck Leavell, a keyboardist for the Rolling Stones and the Allman Brothers Band and also a Georgia tree farmer, was named an honorary forest ranger by the USDA Forest Service. According to the New York Times, “Selecting Mr. Leavell…help[s] the service promote people who responsibly manage private timberland, which makes up more than half of the forests in the country.”
